What is the difference between a fashion stylist and a personal shopper?

For me, a personal shopper curates your wardrobe for everyday life—your day-to-day engagements like board meetings, speaking at conferences, hanging at home, or lunch with friends.

A stylist, on the other hand, is someone you hire for specific occasions. As a personal shopper, I see it as curating a specific aesthetic for all your needs.

Who are some of the clients you are currently working with?

Honestly, I’m like a secret weapon to many people, so I don’t really discuss them because I work happily behind the scenes.

What is a typical day like for you in LA?

A typical workday for me involves going to stores and shopping for my clients, then heading home to continue shopping online. I spend a lot of time speaking with designers, discovering new stores, and building relationships with salespeople and brands. The most important part of my job is putting everything together. I spend a lot of time ensuring that all the pieces fit cohesively, as they need to tell the same story.

What is your favorite season to style: SS or FW?

I would say fall is fun because of the coats, but I actually prefer spring because I love light colors that feel fresh and silhouettes that are super feminine. In the fall, you just need a few good coats to look chic.A content creator also partners with brands for paid content which is very fun because I can be creative and style the pieces my way. I love creating content – it is something I have always loved doing even when I was younger and how my social media organically grew! I love connecting with people across my platform, traveling and curating interesting and organic content.

What is the biggest challenge you face while styling people?

I always want to make sure my clients are happy and that they don’t spend unnecessary amounts of money on things they’ll never wear. For example, if you buy a jacket from me and only wear it once, I feel like I’ve failed.

If you could suggest only four items to buy for the entire summer, what would they be?If you’re splurging:

  • A Khaite dress in ivory
  • A Chanel ballerina flats in a seasonal color like yellow or white
  • A Loro Piana beach bag
  • A beautiful necklace from CVC Stones

Do your personal preferences and tastes influence your styling process, or do you adapt to each client’s individual style?

I would describe my personal style as classic, timeless, and a little ageless—where I can wear some of the things I’m wearing now in the next 20 years. Yes, I’m hired for that aesthetic, but I work very, very closely with a client in a collaborative way. It’s not my style or their style, but rather our style that evolves together.

What are your go-to spots for shopping on a budget?

  • The Real Real: You can find secondhand ballerinas that haven’t been worn for around $300 and handbags you’ll keep forever.
  • Wasteland (LA): Amazing finds.
  • Scout (LA): They have an incredible selection of vintage denim, like Levi’s.

OK, let’s talk about Sofia Richie. What was your favorite look from the entire wedding?

I loved the after-party corset dress by Claudia Schiffer.I am learning so much each and every day. This past year has taught me so much, especially to be comfortable in the unknown. I am on a career path I never dreamed of having a year ago. I think I have learned that being open is so important and being able to adapt and grow even when the future is unknown. I feel so grateful for my past work experiences and now being able to translate that into this entrepreneurial role is so rewarding and exciting! I am very grateful!

Were there any fashion emergencies during the wedding weekend?

No hiccups at all. Everything was preplanned, and photos were taken in advance, so it all went smoothly. Sofia was so pleasant—a happy bride makes any dress shine!

What’s next for you and Sofia?

This is just the beginning! We have incredible things in the works. This is one of my most fun and successful relationships, both personally and professionally. Our partnership is really strong, and we understand each other so well. We talk all day about clothes and lifestyle in general. We are aligned in so many ways. It’s safe, it’s family. It doesn’t feel like work—it’s just like creating beautiful art. She’s my canvas, and I love her and her husband. He’s a wonderful man, and I love him too.

Looking back, is there anything you would have done differently, styling-wise?

Absolutely nothing.
